Pushkar camel fair is without a doubt one of the most amazing sites I have ever seen. An astonishing 50,000 camels converge on the tiny desert town of Pushkar, Rajasthan, for this annual fair which is the largest camel fair in the world. The population during this week long fair swells from around 20,000 to well over 200,000. It's a fascinating and peculiar sight, and a great opportunity to witness an old traditional style Indian festival. While it is fun and interesting to us it is serious business for villagers who spend days travelling across the desert to attend. They are here hoping to turn camels into much needed cash. Horses, goats, camels and cattle are here for purchase. The shear cacophony of colour from the brightly decked out camels and the stunning traditional Rajasthani saris makes for a photographers paradise!
