Indigenous Travel Experiences
Cultural Treasures and Rich Traditions
More than 50 distinct First Nations make their home on Vancouver Island, which is divided into three distinct tribal regions: the Coast Salish on the south island, Nuu-chah-nulth along the western side, and Kwakwaka’wakw to the north. Together, these regions represent 20% of BC’s total Indigenous population. They hold cultural treasures and rich traditions within their communities that you can learn about and experience with us as your guide.
By introducing you to local Indigenous people, you’ll discover a deep connection to the natural surroundings that have shaped the way of life here for thousands of years. Explore galleries, museums, local hiking trails, take a boat excursion along the wild West coast, sample traditional cuisine. We’ll take you into the communities where you can meet artists and storytellers, musicians and wilderness guides.
Through the stories, the songs, the food and the art that make Indigenous culture so rich and fascinating, you’ll learn different ways of being on this planet; new ways to connect with the wild places we play in and call home.
